Senior Membership: A member who has unqualified membership privileges subject to the restrictions imposed by the regulations of the Club. A Senior Member shall be eligible to maintain boats on Club property subject to regulations passed by the Directors and Section 11 of the bylaws. Any person who a) owns a boat or b) owns the majority interest in a boat (51%) or c) owns a joint/equal share of a boat normally maintained within a ten (10) mile radius of the Club must be a Senior Member, provided that there shall be a minimum of one Senior Membership per boat. Senior Membership includes the member’s spouse and children living at the same address. Only the named Senior Member holds voting privileges.
Jointly owned boats must have at least one Senior Member and one Associate Member. If the second owner of a jointly owned boat wishes to have voting rights, they must purchase a Senior Membership instead of an Associate Membership.
Intermediate Membership: Any person between the ages of eighteen (18) and thirty-five (34) inclusive, who owns a boat that is registered with a slip in the Cobourg Marina and who does not keep a boat in the centreboard compound, may be an Intermediate Member. Intermediate Members are entitled to the same privileges and voting rights as Senior Members.
Life Membership: Granted to long-standing members who meet criteria established by the Board. Life Members hold voting rights and enjoy continued access to Club activities and facilities. Life Members who own a boat are responsible for paying membership fees. Once a Life Member no longer owns a boat, they are no longer required to pay membership fees.
Maintenance Membership (Senior): A temporary category for individuals who were previously Senior Members and do not currently own a boat (or the boat is out of commission), but intend to return to boat ownership. This category allows individuals to retain full voting rights and maintain membership continuity during short-term gaps in ownership, or a season when the boat is on the hard.
Associate/Crew Membership: A member who is entitled to participate in all Club activities but does not have voting privileges. Associate/Crew Members may not maintain a boat within a ten-mile radius of the Club unless they are a minority or equal owner in a boat for which the Senior Member holds the majority or equal interest. Jointly-owned boats must have at least one Senior Member and one Associate or Crew Member. Associate/Crew Members are not voting Members
Junior Membership: Any person under the age of eighteen (18) who is interested in the objectives of the Club. Applications must be endorsed by the applicant’s parents or legal guardian, who must also agree to accept financial responsibility. Junior Members whose parents are Senior Members are excluded from fees. Junior Members are not voting Members.
